This Valentine's Day, the Baltimore Shakespeare Factory, Baltimore's early modern theatre company, Baltimore Shakespeare Factory, is offering what it calls "the ultimate in grand romantic gestures": A Shakespeare sonnet delivered to your heart's desire.
Baltimore Shakespeare Factory Resident Company Member Dean Carlson will arrive at the home or office of the beloved and personally deliver the Shakespearean sonnet of the sender's choice. He will be in full Elizabethan garb, bearing a rose, a commemorative copy of the sonnet, and a whole lot of swagger. "Swooning is all but guaranteed," says the company's press release.
These $100 Sonnet-Grams are a fund-raising effort for the Baltimore Shakespeare Factory's Education Department. Proceeds will benefit programs for children across the Greater Baltimore Area, including the Summer with Shakespeare Scholarship Fund.

The Baltimore Shakespeare Factory produces five shows each year at the Great Hall at St. Mary's in Hampden. It is the objective of Baltimore Shakespeare Factory to re-create, as closely as is possible, the staging conditions, spirit, and atmosphere created by Shakespeare's theater company while producing only plays from the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods. The company is expanding its outreach into the community, offering education programs for local students, and lectures and workshops for people of all ages.
