Company Sets Out on Ambitious Year

Hamlet Isn't Dead, a small theater company in New York City, continues on its quest to stage every play in the Shakespeare canon with five plays scheduled this year. "Everything we have planned this year is going to be a landmark occasion," the company says in its most recent newsletter, starting with the first play of the year, Richard III, for which the company has hired an outside director, Brian Gillespie, a founding member of Pull Together Productions.

The production is scheduled for March but, as with all of the other productions planned for the year, dates and venue have not been solidified.

In the spring, HID will turn to The Comedy of Errors, pairing with several local filmmakers for the company's first "feature-length movie." In the summer, the company will take on Love's Labour's Lost before completing the calendar in the fall with a double-header, Richard II and Romeo and Juliet.
