Tennant As Richard II Heading for Cinemas

RSC Royal Shakespeare Company logoThe Royal Shakespeare Company's new production of William Shakespeare's Richard II starring David Tennant in the title role will be the first RSC production to be broadcast live to cinemas around the world as part of the Live from Stratford-upon-Avon Season.

The production will be broadcast live to UK cinemas on Nov. 13 and shown in cinemas across the United States from Dec. 3 to Jan. 2. To find a cinema near you, visit the Live from Stratford-upon-Avon website at http://onscreen.rsc.org.uk. Additional cinemas across the UK and around the world will be added, and you can sign up for the latest updates at the onscreen.rsc website.

A continuation of Shakespeare's second history cycle is also scheduled to be broadcast: Henry IV, Part One, on May 14, and Henry IV, Part Two, on June 18. The Two Gentlemen of Verona is on the schedule for Sept. 3, 2014.

Directed by RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran, Richard II also features Oliver Ford Davies as the Duke of York, Michael Pennington as John of Gaunt, and Nigel Lindsay as Bolingbroke.

Richard II opened in Stratford-upon-Avon at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre on Oct. 10 and will run at the Barbican Theatre in London from Dec. 9 to Jan. 25. Tickets are still available for some performances for the Barbican Theatre.
